Meet the Therapist
Ryan Mowbray has been a Physical Therapist for over 15 years. He has his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from California State University, Sacramento, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University. To support patient care, he holds certifications as an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment Professional (SFMA 1 & 2), and Functional Movement Screen Certified Professional (FMS). Ryan has a range of experience working with professional athletes (49ers, Warriors, SF Ballet, and International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame ), weekend warriors, and patients simply looking to move without pain.
Ryan has an athletic background, playing team sports in high school and college, then transitioning to trail running, road and mountain biking, CrossFit, and snow sports. He believes activity at any level is core to well-being and prides himself in helping athletes optimize movement to achieve their functional goals.
Ryan has observed that traditional injury care and recovery are often focused only on the place of injury. For some patients, this may be adequate. But for many, especially those with recurring pain or injury, finding the cause of the pain, not just the source, takes a more holistic approach. Ryan assesses and treats the whole person. First, getting to the root of the injury, then retraining movement patterns, and finally, devising a strengthening plan to allow his patients to return to their activities without pain. Ryan also constructs a bridge between physical therapy and sports performance, offering one-on-one training post-injury.
