Frequently Asked Questions

What is MOWBS?

From high school baseball to endurance sports later in life, the nickname Mowbs, an abbreviated version of his surname Mowbray, always seems to follow founder Ryan Mowbray.  Naming the clinic Mowbs Physiotherapy is an homage to the memories and connections formed along his sporting journey.  It is a reminder to keep the energy high and encouraging, to push to see results and to work as a clinician-patient team to achieve the desired outcomes.

What is the difference between physiotherapy and physical therapy?

The terms ‘physiotherapy’ and ‘physical therapy’ are often used interchangeably. We chose to use physiotherapy based on the idea that physiotherapy is: "...a science-based profession that takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle... and help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education, and advice.’

Evidence-based treatment of the whole person is the foundation of the clinic.

Physiotherapists use more manual therapy techniques like massage, stretching, joint manipulation, and soft tissue release. Your experience in the clinic will be hands on, using the time to evaluate and treat. This will be followed up with the more traditional physical therapy experience of exercises to address muscle strength, coordination, and load to get you back to your active lifestyle.
